The UC Berkeley Need-Based Study Abroad Scholarship offers selected undergraduate or graduate SAF scholars each term awards of up to $5,000. These scholarships are based on exceptional achievement, demonstrated financial need, and university nomination. This scholarship embodies SAF and UC Berkeley’s long-standing partnership, continuing our rich tradition of helping high-achieving students from diverse backgrounds to pursue their academic and professional goals at one of the world’s most celebrated academic institutions.

Reflecting on the importance of international education, Euijeen Han shared: “Studying abroad and broadening one's horizons is a dream for many students. This scholarship provides me with a precious opportunity to grow through international education.”

Euijeen will be enrolling at the Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley’s distinguished business school, a step she hopes will help her create a meaningful impact on the world in the future.

"With this scholarship, my education at Berkeley will empower me to give back to society by leading projects that bridge engineering and finance, creating lasting impacts on both local and global communities."

Both Euijeen and Luyao were selected from a competitive pool of applicants, demonstrating their exceptional dedication, innovation, and leadership – values that the scholarship program seeks to foster. Their selection continues the success of past years, when several SAF scholars also earned these prestigious scholarships, which are eligible for the UC Berkeley Extension program, including the Berkeley Haas Business and Berkeley Multidisciplinary Programs.

The increasing number of students securing this achievement underscores SAF’s ongoing commitment to facilitating international education opportunities for talented students worldwide. We understand the value of investing in potential and working together to encourage the next generation of global leaders.

SAF congratulates Euijeen and Luyao on their remarkable achievements and wishes them great success in their future endeavors at UC Berkeley. Their stories are a testament to the transformative power of international education and SAF’s mission to support students in achieving their dreams. Congratulations again!
