To strengthen the presence on the global stage of Chinese colleges and universities, build inspiring international partnerships, and enhance students’ study abroad experiences, the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), supported by the Ministry of Education, hosted the China International Education Exhibition Online from June 17 to 22, 2021.
As a major partner, SAF hosted a live event on June 19 with the SAF China leadership team joined by guest speakers Zhou Peng, Deputy Director of International Cooperation and Exchange Department, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, and Hu Zhuowei, Vice Dean of Yandu College of Capital Normal University, as well as outstanding alumni Wei Xinyu.
Wei Xinyu from Southwest University joined SAF's exchange program at University of California, Berkeley, in August 2019 and, continuing her study abroad journey, steps into her master's degree at Berkeley this September. In the live broadcast, Wei Xinyu celebrated SAF’s role as a bridge that carried her from a 211 school in China to a top international school. She also expressed her gratitude to SAF: "SAF Coordinators supported us with information about flights/accommodation/online classes/visas/vaccines even in these extraordinary times."
Through the SAF overseas exchange program, Wei Xinyu successfully obtained graduate offers from Harvard, Columbia University, University College London, University of California, Berkeley, and other prestigious universities: "I was very excited. I could not have received so many offers if it were not for the support and encouragement of the SAF Coordinators and the students I met at Berkeley," she said.
Zhou Peng, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange at GDUFS also expressed appreciation for the SAF partnership: "Our international exchange benefits from SAF’s great support and abundant resources. For our part, we can provide student scholarships to facilitate international learning experiences. SAF works hard to assure safety and success for both the university and the students."
The live broadcast was a thrilling experience for everyone at SAF. The opportunity to shine a light on overseas study and international education—especially in this post-pandemic world—was inspiring. At SAF, our mission remains firm: to prepare students for their role as industry leaders, to forge international internship programs, and to enhance students’ global perspectives with exceptional academic opportunities.
