With exciting leadership transitions underway, we are pleased to announce that Zachariah Simon has been appointed Executive Director of SAF effective January 1, 2025. In this role, he will oversee the daily management of SAF’s programs and program development. This follows the announcement of Carol Carmody’s new position as IES Global’s Senior Associate Vice President for International Partner Development, allowing her to focus fully on her expanded responsibilities.
In his new position, Zachariah will continue to lead SAF’s study tour and customized program development, while partnering closely with Lucia You and the Program Specialist team to manage SAF’s direct enrollment opportunities, ensuring quality programming for students and effective collaboration with university partners.
Zachariah brings extensive experience to the role. A former Program Coordinator at SAF from 2011 to 2015, he returned to the organization three years ago to manage custom and study tour program development. In the interim, he spent seven years at The University of Texas at Austin, facilitating inbound programs for diverse audiences, including U.S. Department of State Educational & Cultural Affairs initiatives like the Iraqi Young Leaders Exchange Program and the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative.
With his ability to solve complex challenges, design innovative solutions, and deeply understand the diverse needs of SAF’s student constituents, Zachariah is well-equipped to advance SAF’s mission.
