On November 1, SAF Korea was thrilled to welcome distinguished delegates from two of its esteemed university partners – the University of Seoul and Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) – to a special event in Jong-no.
This gathering, part of a broader alumni event for the University of Westminster organized by SAF Korea, featured a presentation by Suyeon Lee, Director of SAF Korea. Attendees and special guests, including Yeonjin Cho from the University of Seoul and Yujin Kim from POSTECH, joined for an insightful session on study abroad trends.
Lee’s presentation, which first garnered positive attention at the Korean Association of Foreign Student Administrators (KAFSA) conference in June, offered a glimpse into recent trends in U.S. study abroad programs. Drawing on her expertise in education, she highlighted successful short-term study options offered by IES Abroad Centers, allowing students to gain an international experience without committing to a full semester or year abroad.
These shorter, flexible programs are increasingly popular with Korean students, providing study abroad experiences that better align with their graduation timelines. Lee also shared a curated list of customized programs SAF Korea has already developed in collaboration with universities in Korea and China, encouraging other institutions to expand similar short-term opportunities for their students.
The event emphasized the growing demand for adaptable study abroad programs among students, sparking meaningful discussions on how to make international experiences more accessible.
Following the presentation, students had the opportunity to ask questions and network, as representatives from each university shared remarks and reflected on the importance of partnerships and collaborative insight-sharing.
SAF Korea is committed to offering these types of events and collaborative exchanges, helping advance the conversation around education and promote global learning opportunities that are aligned with students' needs.
