Your Student Counselor is your study abroad ambassador and supporter. They join your application journey when you’ve confirmed you’re interested in studying abroad. At this point, they guide you through each stage of the application, notify you of the documents you need, let you know when your admission results are in, and walk you through the next steps, including class enrollment and organizing pre-arrival tests.

I shared a dorm room with one American student in Craig Hall, the biggest dorm on campus, which had free food and movie night for all students in the dorm. There's a lot of sport on campus, too, so you can watch football game for free.

Academics

University of Montana's Academic Approach

The University of Montana offers a wide selection of academic programs allowing you flexibility to explore your interests and find a course of study that fits your unique strengths.

Three programs of national distinction at U. Montana are creative writing, organismal biology, ecology and evolution and wildlife biology. The university has so many courses to offer, from its College of Humanities and Sciences to the W.A. Franke College of Forestry and Conservation (which houses world renowned department in wildlife biology).  There’s something for everyone at Montana.

Courses

You enroll in courses online after orientation. You must finalize your registration bill in your portal with assistance from the International Student Office

Some courses and departments have limited access. So you cannot enroll in the following courses/departments prior to the first day of classes. However, if you choose, you can attend the course on your first day and check if there are any open seats and then obtain permission from the professor.

Some courses and departments have intermittently offered classes. Therefore, depending on the term, you may or may not be able to get into desired courses in the following departments:

Application Requirements

When applying to study abroad, you must meet the entry requirements set by the host university—and SAF is here to set you up for success.

The requirements outlined in this section include the language proficiency scores you may need to demonstrate your language skills, a guide to the GPA range and other academic prerequisites required by your host university, and a list of documentation and other application materials you will need to finalize your application. You may need to supply additional information throughout the process, and you will be alerted through your emails and SAF Student Portal if this is the case for you.

When studying abroad, you will want to consider the time of year and how long you are away. Most programs follow the host university's academic calendar.

On-campus dormitory

While you study abroad at the University of Montana, you will have a shared accommodation on campus. Some accommodations have a shared kitchen, common area, and access to laundry facilities for a home-from-home self-catering experience.
