UCL
As one of the world's very best universities, University College London consistently places in the global top 20 universities in a wide range of world university rankings. Notably, there has been at least one Nobel Laureate from the UCL community every decade since the establishment of the prizes in 1901.
A member of the prestigious Russell Group, UCL has a maverick tradition of leading the way, being the first English university to admit women as equals to men, living true to its motto: “Let all come who by merit deserve the most reward.”
During your time at UCL, you have access not only to the best in entertainment and social environment but also to cultural and academic resources.

Academics
The Centre for Languages & International Education welcomes you warmly with a SAF Scholars event when you arrive, starting a summer of social and cultural events that introduce you to UCL, London and Britain.
The CLIE actively encourages blended learning, so you work on the grammar, vocabulary, and language accuracy in a small class then, in the afternoons, venture beyond the classroom. With your group and expert guides, you visit London’s theaters, galleries, and museums to deepen your cultural knowledge of the city. You also join breakfasts, pub quizzes, walking tours, and games to build your language confidence in a social setting with local UCL students.
Courses
Over three weeks, the Summer English Language program gives you 63 hours of confidence-building language classes in a group of no more than 16 students. You can rely on the individualized attention and personalized feedback on your language abilities, targeting exactly what you need to do to improve and ready yourself for academic study in English.
You have full access to UCL’s libraries, study centers, and computer rooms as well as its Museums and Collections to enhance your understanding of British life and culture.
After your three weeks, you will have improved English language skills, more confidence in communicating in English, and a knowledge of London’s important educational and cultural places.
