Your Student Counselor is your study abroad ambassador and supporter. They join your application journey when you’ve confirmed you’re interested in studying abroad. At this point, they guide you through each stage of the application, notify you of the documents you need, let you know when your admission results are in, and walk you through the next steps, including class enrollment and organizing pre-arrival tests.

On the outskirts Ireland’s third largest city, the university merges a rural lifestyle with vibrant urban adventures. 

With a bustling Downtown, as well as the 800-year-old King John’s Castle and surrounding contemporary buildings, Limerick is home to the Munster rugby team, one of Europe’s top rugby teams. Thomond Park, the team’s stadium, also holds major concerts—think Elton John and Bruce Springsteen.

Academics

University of Limerick's Academic Approach

 

In five days a week of small morning classes with a maximum of 15 students, you develop your communication fluency and enhance your understanding of the English language.

In developing your listening, reading, and writing skills, you also deepen your appreciation for Irish culture, helping you get the most out of your study abroad experience in the country.

You get full access to the Language Learning Hub, too. This welcoming center encourages self-study beyond the classroom in its two dedicated computer labs and digital language lab exclusively for language learners.

Courses

Classroom Hours

The SAF program fee tuition rate is based on enrollment in 20 hours of beginner to advanced language instruction (depending on your proficiency) per week.

Classes run from 9am to12:50pm, five days a week, and cover all four language skills:

  • Speaking
  • Listening
  • Reading
  • Writing

The requirements outlined in this section include the language proficiency scores you may need to demonstrate your language skills, a guide to the GPA range and other academic prerequisites required by your host university, and a list of documentation and other application materials you will need to finalize your application. You may need to supply additional information throughout the process, and you will be alerted through your emails and SAF Student Portal if this is the case for you.
