One of the oldest universities in western France, University Catholique de l’Ouest (UCO) lies at the heart of Angers, nestled between Paris and the Atlantic Ocean. As Angers abounds with waterways, museums and galleries, you’ll feel at home if you’re an outdoor or art enthusiast. You’ll study French at the UCO-CIDEF language center, recognized as one of the best by FLE Quality, the official French as a Foreign Language Quality label backed by the Ministry for Higher Education & Research, the Ministry of Culture & Communication, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. But your richest experience may well lie outside of the classroom. You’ll live with a French family, meet French students, and participate in program excursions that include local cultural events.

About the University
Universite Catholique de L'Ouest
Established in 1875, the prestigious private University Catholique de l’Ouest has a story that stretches back to the 11th century and has celebrated alumni including royals, archbishops, politicians, and leading thinkers. It is little surprise, then, that many Angers students are art and history enthusiasts.
Over the centuries, UCO has grown to an institution covering nine campuses with six strong multidisciplinary faculties working together as “an open, committed, and responsible community” to “respond to the needs of society.”
