Academics
University of Oxford St. Anne's College's Academic Approach
St. Anne’s pre-med program stands out among other pre-med year abroad courses because of its molecular focus and emphasis on independent study. This program is considered an Extended Fall term or Extended Academic year as there is an additional five-week course added to the front of the traditional Michaelmas term (8-week fall term).
If you study just for the fall term, you would take 5-week courses in human physiology and fundamental biochemistry, laying the foundation for the more advanced options you take in your 8-week Michaelmas Term.
You study physiology and biochemistry alongside the fall only students, but have opportunities to take a broader, more extensive range of courses in the remaining three terms. These courses have been designed to fit with the typical pre-med course sequence for Juniors. Lab classes are also available on a space-available basis if you’re studying September to June.
On the back of completing this year abroad, you could consider progressing to prestigious medical schools such as Perelman Medical School at the University of Pennsylvania, Cambridge University, Oxford University, Harvard Medical School, many receiving highly prestigious scholarships such as Gates scholarship and Rhodes scholarship.
The tutors at St. Anne’s are happy to write recommendations to support you applications to medical school.
