About the University

About IES Abroad Dublin Center

Dublin’s IES Abroad Center is just south of the cosmopolitan city center. Form lasting bonds with other students at your study hub in a former Victorian post office fully renovated with a library and student lounge. Just a short walk away is Dublin Castle, St. Stephen’s Green, and Trinity College where you can learn Dublin’s rich history and discover Ireland’s gregarious spirit.

Academics

In small, welcoming groups at IES Abroad Dublin, you move from an introduction to effective communication into understanding theories and concepts that stretch across geographical boundaries. Diving into case studies and the art of storytelling in cross-cultural marketing, you gather concepts, theories, and ideas into your toolbox.

From there, you build your knowledge of international communication studies by visiting local businesses and/or learning from expert guest lecturers. And the culmination of your course is working in a small group to develop and present (using PowerPoint) a well-researched Capstone Project.

Courses

Academics

The culture & communication course will provide you with an introduction to effective communication, examine the role of culture in the workplace, and explore techniques for cross-cultural communication and marketing. Course lectures will be supplemented with case studies and interactive activities designed to strengthen your communication skills.

Capstone Project

Working with your classmate, you’ll develop and present a well-researched project incorporating concepts, theories, and ideas explored in class.

Workshops, Site Visits & Guest Lectures

Dive deeper into the program topic alongside experts and practitioners. These components will enhance your understanding cross-cultural communications and Irish culture through interactive learning.

Cultural Activities

To give you time to digest the academic elements of the program, IES Abroad staff will organize unique cultural experiences and share their local knowledge for you to explore Dublin.

Day Trip

There’s more to the Emerald Isle than Dublin! On a day trip outside the city, you’ll explore one of Ireland’s charming villages or scenic natural wonders.

Program Dates

When studying abroad, you will want to consider the time of year and how long you are away. Most programs follow the host university's academic calendar.

The dates shown below are general estimates, and as you get closer to the start of the term, you will get more detailed information from SAF. If you have any questions, your Student Counsellor and Program Specialist are always here to support you and point you to the correct information.

Housing

As academic study tours are typically a short, intense period of exploration and discovery, with a narrow lens on a specific theme, they usually last a few weeks—shorter than the normal study abroad experience—and sometimes travel to multiple destinations.

For this reason, SAF arranges the best short-term student accommodation, which usually means the cohort stays in hotels or hostels during term time and, for summer programs, in university campus or off campus, private residence halls. Each program has different accommodation requirements, so SAF plans for each diligently. Program advisors can share more detailed information and field additional questions.
