About the Program

For the summer, you join a small cohort of post-grad students in classes taught by seasoned professors of the Environmental Design College, which stands out for its deep integration with Silicon Valley's tech ecosystem and the Bay Area's architectural innovation. 

On this program, you have unparalleled access to both cutting-edge design technology and a living laboratory of progressive urban development. You learn the fundamentals of environmental design in studio courses, site visits, and guest lectures as you connect with peers, experienced professionals, and industry leaders in environmental design. 

This is an opportunity to sharpen your design and planning skills as you build a portfolio to impress job and/or graduate school applications.

Student Counselor SAFFY

Your Student Counselor is your study abroad ambassador and supporter. They join your application journey when you’ve confirmed you’re interested in studying abroad. At this point, they guide you through each stage of the application, notify you of the documents you need, let you know when your admission results are in, and walk you through the next steps, including class enrollment and organizing pre-arrival tests.

Courses

Course restrictions

This post-graduate course prepares you for a career in environmental design. If you are an exceptional junior undergraduate, you may also apply. 

You choose one of three tracks:
•   Architecture
•   City planning
•   Landscape architecture


Class hours

From Monday to Thursday, you have daily workshops, lectures, and studio time from 10AM to 7PM.

On Fridays, the class has a site visit from 10AM to 2PM.

Application Requirements

When applying to study abroad, you must meet the entry requirements set by the host university - and SAF is here to set you up for success.

The requirements outlined in this section include the language proficiency scores you may need to demonstrate your language skills, a guide to the GPA range and other academic prerequisites required by your host university, and a list of documentation and other application materials you will need to finalize your application. You may need to supply additional information throughout the process, and you will be alerted through your emails and SAF Student Portal if this is the case for you.

Housing Information

On-campus dormitory

For the summer, you live in a fully furnished triple room with a shared bathroom on campus, promising an authentic college experience. You have a single bed, desk, and closet, as well as a microwave and microchill fridge for snacks outside of your included standard meal plan. The dormitory has a fitness center and recreation room, creating a vibrant community atmosphere.
