Academics

Over two weeks, you dive into the vastness of the business of entertainment in LA. With the goal of giving you a clear awareness of the opportunities in the industry, the renowned UCLA faculty take you through current industry practices, evolving business models, and distribution platforms in their enlightening lectures and real-life case studies.

In the 30 morning classroom hours, you cover financing, contracts, IP rights, global marketing, distribution across media platforms, and piracy. Outside the classroom, you work alongside your peers on coursework that earns you credit and an official UCLA Extension transcript.

Housing Information

On-campus dormitory

As academic study tours are typically a short, intense period of exploration and discovery, with a narrow lens on a specific theme, they usually last a few weeks—shorter than the normal study abroad experience—and sometimes travel to multiple destinations.

The full college experience is yours, staying in a residence hall on the UCLA campus. You share a room with two other classmates. You each have a large single bed, a desk, dresser and high-speed internet. You share a bathroom and can spend your spare time either exploring the very safe Westwood Village or hanging out with classmates in the social lounges. You program fee includes a full meal plan of breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Each program has different accommodation requirements, so SAF plans for each diligently. Program advisors can share more detailed information and field additional questions.
