When you study at University of Manchester, just being in lectures and seminars is a great opportunity to make new connections. Talking to other students, you’ll learn about different cultures, meet new people and develop lasting friendships. But studying abroad is more than just academic. Try these slightly different ways to meet people at University of Manchester.
1. Attend a Mancunion Event
The Mancunion is the University of Manchester's student newspaper. The journalists and editors organize regular events and activities for students. Go along to one of their pub quizzes, poetry slams, and even a Puppy Room where you can de-stress with some cute and cuddly puppies.
2. Attend a Board Game Night
The University of Manchester Board Games Society organizes regular board game nights where you can play your favorite board games, learn new ones, and meet students in the welcoming atmosphere of Woolton Hall. They also organize tournaments and social events.
3. Join the KnitSoc
No, not knit a sock – although you can if you want. Knit Society: the University of Manchester's society for knitting and crochet enthusiasts. They hold regular knitting circles of students who share your passion for crafting and are keen to learn about your patterns as much as you are to learn theirs.
4. Attend a Ceilidh
The University of Manchester's Folk Society organizes regular ceilidhs, which are traditional Scottish dances. They're high energy, high fun, and a great way to meet other students and have fun while learning some new dance moves. Expect violins and drums and an enthusiastic ‘caller’ telling you what step to do next.
5. Explore the City's History
From the University of Manchester, it's an easy journey to visit the National Football Museum, the Science and Industry Museum, and Old Trafford stadium.
