Academics

Hanyang University evolved from engineering roots to become a leading, globally ranked comprehensive university. Its teaching philosophy combines practical education with academic excellence.

On the Visiting Student Program, you can choose from semester or year-long opportunities that blend academic rigor with cultural immersion in Seoul, making it an ideal choice for international students seeking a comprehensive Asian educational experience.

Courses

Course restrictions
Courses offered in professional schools, the Graduate School of Urban Studies, Graduate School of International Studies, and School of Law are not available for SAF Students.

The minimum SAF Student course load is one course or three HYU credits (one credit = 15 contact hours), the maximum is 20 HYU credits. SAF Students should aim to take four courses or 12 credits per semester.

Core and elective courses
There are two types of courses for SAF Students: competitive, often over-subscribed academic courses taught in Korean or English, and courses taught in English, exclusively designed and guaranteed for visiting students. These are a good option as there is little competition.
