Established as Nihon Law School in 1889 by the then Minister of Justice, Nihon University is now a considerable private research university with a wide range of study available.

Also known as Nichidai, the university maintains a global perspective and an enterprising spirit, producing graduates who go on to have particular success in the fields of sumo wrestling, art and music, and politics. Following its core educational aim of cultivating the spirit of self-independence and creativity, relying on the Japanese spirit and valuing Japanese tradition, Nihon has exchange and overseas training programs with numerous institutions.

North China Electric Power University is a national "Project 211" key university based in Beijing, China under the national Ministry of Education that specialises in polytechnic disciplines. The main campus is located in Beijing, and it has a branch campus in Baoding, Hebei Province.  It is a Chinese Ministry of Education Double First Class Discipline University, with Double First Class status in certain disciplines.

Northeast Normal University is one of the six national normal universities in the People's Republic of China, located in Changchun, Jilin province. The university was listed as a "project 211" university. It is a Chinese Ministry of Education Double First Class Discipline University, with Double First Class status in certain disciplines.

Northeastern University is a public university in Shenyang, Liaoning province with strengths in engineering and architecture. It is known for its prominent role in the information technology industry. With a total enrollment of over 20,000 students, Northeastern has received significant government funding through the "211 Project" and "985 Project", initiatives which sought to elevate the research standards of rising Chinese universities. In 2017, Northeastern was selected by the Chinese Ministry of Education as a Class B institution in the Double First Class University Plan, a major government initiative to comprehensively develop a group of elite universities into "world-class institutions" by 2050.

Northwest University was founded in 1902 with the Shaanxi Academy and the Capital Academy. In 1950 It was renamed Northwestern University, and in 1978, was designated as a national key university. It is one of the first batch of universities in the national World First-class Discipline Construction and Project 211, and is co-sponsored by the Ministry of Education and Shaanxi Province.

Northwestern Polytechnical University is a National Key University, directed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China, located in Xi'an, Shaanxi, China. It is a Chinese Ministry of Education Class A Double First Class University.The university specializes in education and research in the fields of aeronautical, astronautical and marine engineering. The university is a member of "Project 985" and "Project 211".

The Ocean University of China is a university in Qingdao. As one of the key comprehensive universities of China, it is under the direct jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education. It is a Chinese Ministry of Education Class A Double First Class University. While offering studies in all major branches of natural and social sciences alongside engineering, the university is especially renowned for its marine sciences and fishery sciences departments.
