Sending Universities

The oldest university in East Asia, Sungkyunkwan University has educated leaders for over 600 years. It started life in 1398 as the highest national educational institute during the Joseon Dynasty, its purpose to further the study of Confucianism. Now a private research university in partnership with Samsung, SKKU continues to inspire students to strive for perfection and become leaders that contribute positively to society. Over two campuses - the Humanities and Social Sciences Campus and the Natural Sciences Campus - SKKU nurtures natural sciences alongside the more traditional study of humanities.  Surrounded by centuries-old architecture and framed by National Treasures, including two giant ginkgo trees planted in 1519, the cutting-edge world-class research institute epitomizes "the nation's everlasting spirit to thrive and succeed.

Takushoku University was founded by Prince KATSURA Taro in 1900. The University is recognized for its significant achievements as a pioneering international university, and many of its graduates have gone on to leave their mark on the world.

Now, with the world moving forward and growing more internationalized and globalized, activities across the political, economic, and cultural spectrum are becoming increasingly cross-border in nature, and we need to move beyond mere international exchange and focus instead on living in harmony with people whose cultures and ways of life differ from our own. What the world needs, in other words, is people whose outlooks are founded on a common recognition that we are all human beings sharing this same planet.

This sentiment is echoed in the words of the Takushoku University song: “There is no discrimination where I stand.” In adherence to this, the University remains committed to educating internationally minded students who can succeed and play their part in Japan, Asia, and the rest of the world.

A hothouse for education, Tamagawa University evolved from a kindergarten and elementary school in 1929 to an all-encompassing academy and university for a 10,000-strong community on its large Tokyo campus. With its mission driven by Zenjin education principles, it pushes to "cultivate those pioneers in life who will courageously take up challenges without fear of failure."

A private university, Teikyo University is headquartered in the Itabashi ward, Tokyo, Japan. Established in 1931 as Teikyo Commercial High School, it became Teikyo University in 1966. Starting with economics and liberal arts, Teikyo University has continued to develop as a comprehensive university, offering a wide range of additional programs. Teikyo University values and supports the efforts of each student. Teikyo strives to help them develop strengths and qualities that will enable them to create the future they desire.

The Chiba University of Commerce, or CUC, located in Ichikawa City, Chiba Prefecture, was founded in 1928 by Dr. Ryukichi Endo, Ph.D., and will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2028.

CUC aims to cultivate leaders with a strong sense of ethics through its "practical education," based on the spirit of bushido, or the samurai code.

In 2025, CUC will make a fresh start as a comprehensive university of social sciences comprising four faculties, six departments, and three graduate schools. CUC is committed to making the required university-wide reforms so it can adapt to the changing socio-economic environment and further develop its distinctive "practical education" for the future.

Tianjin University is of the first modern higher education institutions in China. Now a national university under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education of China, it is a Chinese Ministry of Education Class A Double First Class University. It was established in 1895 as Tientsin University/Imperial Tientsin University and later Peiyang University (Beiyang University).

Tohoku Gakuin University (TGU ) was established in 1886. It is the largest private comprehensive university in the Tohoku and Hokkaido regions of Japan with more than 11,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students. It comprises 15 departments in 9 faculties—Letters, Economics, Business Administration, Law, Engineering, Regional Studies, Informatics, Human Sciences, and International Studies. TGU locates in a beautiful greenery city, Sendai, the cultural and economic center of the Tohoku region. As symbolized by the school motto, “Life Light Love”, TGU aims to nurture individuals who will contribute to development of culture and society through education based on Christian teachings.
