Korea's leading national research university, Seoul National University has existed in one guise or another since 1895. An amalgamation of colleges, it is well known as the alma mater for Secretary General of the UN Ban Ki-moon, Chairman of the IPCC Hoesung Lee, and Chairman of Samsung Electronics Kwon Oh-hyun.Now the most prestigious university in the country, it ranks in the top 50 global universities for many disciplines. Graduate wages are, on average, about 12 percent higher than any other Korean university, and SNU is ranked in the top ten globally for having alumni holding CEO positions in Fortune 500 enterprises. SNU has exchange arrangements in place with the University of Pennsylvania and a dual master's degree program with Duke University.
